Most people find the work-week incredibly chaotic and hectic. There are weeks that pass by that my family and I simply pass by each other in the halls and fight over the bathroom. When the weekends arrive, we would stare at each other as if we were total strangers. My family lives for weekend trips.

My husband’s parents own a beach house about one hour away from our home. It makes it possible for us to take well deserved weekend trips every time we need to. My husband and I try to take at least one weekend every month for a family getaway and every other month we’ll add a romantic trip just for the two of us.

Weekend trips can really help your marriage and family life. It enables family to bond while away from home and the everyday stress that comes with being at home. The location is unimportant, as long as you are all together. Whether you do it on the beach or in a natural park, you are spending quality time together.

If our budget allows it, my husband and I would look into some more remote weekend trips. There are times when we would look at a weekend cruise or a whirlwind trip to another city. In the past year, we decided to leave on a Thursday night and spend a 3 day weekend in Las Vegas. Doing spontaneous weekend trips can be really fun. We were able to afford it because it was one of those last minute trips that airline and hotels offer unbelievable discounts on.

We are certainly not a wealthy family but we can often find trips that are affordable because they happen to be great bargains. This doesn’t mean that everyone should wait until the last moment to decide a weekend vacation. However, some weekend trips can turn out to be a genuine bargain if you plan your travel on the last moment.

You can find some of the best weekend trips and getaways in your own city. Spend one or two nights on a nearby fancy bed and breakfast you’ve always admired. You can also try to camp out at a local campground if you are fond of the outdoors. You can enjoy and have fun with your family and friends without traveling far from your neighborhood.

Since the price of fuel is steadily increasing, taking local weekend trips is more sensible. You might discover a local tourist spot that you’ve never notice before. It can even be more fun and exciting if you discover it with your family.
