| Choosing the Right Lawn and Patio Furniture |
Nothing is more crucial to having a yard that looks how you want it to than having the right outdoor furniture. Lawn and patio furniture can either make or break your yard, and can result in outdoor summer parties that are either a triumph, or a disaster.
Many people hastily buy the cheapest lawn and patio furniture they can find, figuring it does not matter since it is outside. But if that is your attitude, you might as well not even sit in your lawn furniture. If you are going to spend any time in your lawn chairs or picnic table, you should take as much pride in it as you would in the furniture in your living room. After all, the comfort and attractiveness of your lawn and patio furniture is key to enjoying an afternoon outside. When getting lawn and patio furniture you should take into consideration many factors. The most important is, of course, setting. If you are getting furniture for a glassed in porch, you can get almost anything that you could get for your living room. As such, you should plan on a more lavish decorating arrangement. Furniture for your patio or deck has more limits, but still can be pretty nice. You can use, for example, chairs with stained wood, or tables with glass tops. Furniture for your lawn, by contrast, should be even more rugged. It will probably get dirty and be subjected to the elements, so something that does not show dirt is ideal. Material is another important consideration for lawn and patio furniture. You should get something that meshes nicely with your surroundings. I have always thought that, for deck furniture, nothing looks nicer than a good medium shade wood. It should be light and cheery enough to put anyone who is sitting on it into a good mood, but dark enough to look a little bit outdoorsy and rustic, and to not show dirt too much. Another important thing to think about with lawn and patio furniture is shape. Just because a chair is an outdoor chair, does not mean that it should be uncomfortable to sit in. Ditto with an outdoor table. Your lawn and patio furniture should be comfortable enough that you might chose to sit on it, even if it were inside. Just because you are sitting out of doors, does not mean that you should sacrifice comfort. |
